The 1982 Savio Bosco Alumni has expressed her sadness over the demise of her exemplary member, late Rev. Fr. Christopher Chukwudiebere Azolibe, saying that as a result of his death, a voice that spoke eloquently of God, had gone silent.
The group, who made this known through a funeral oration that was read by Rev. Fr. Festus Ike-Mary Okeke at the burial ceremony of late Fr. Christopher Azolibe alongside late Rev Fr Hyacinth Belonwu Okonkwo at the Priests’ Cemetery, St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka on July 9, 2018, eulogized late Fr. Azolibe as a devoted member of the Noble Savio Bosco Alumni Association.
According to the funeral oration of the 82 Set, late Fr. Azolibe was an embodiment of discipline and moral, an eloquent and humble preacher of the word of God, whose sterling qualities endeared him to many. A Catholic priest, who was ordained on August 15, 1998 (Solemnity of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary), and had special regard for Mother Mary, saying that it was no coincidence that he was called to eternal glory on June 10, 2018 while as a parish priest at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Parish, Igboukwu.
Similarly, Isuofia Vocational Association through the funeral oration that was signed by Rev Fr. Norbert Aguinam and Rev. Sr. Chinaraekene Anaedu, DDL, and read by Sr. Anaedu, DDL, described the late 9th indigenous Catholic priest of the community as a good ambassador, a recollected priest of God and a great pastor of souls.
This was even as the 1998 Awka Diocesan Catholic Priests through the funeral oration that was read by Rev Fr. Martin Okafor, eulogized late Fr. Azolibe as a man of peace and love, a workaholic prayerful priest of God, who sought for what united his set and the people of God, rather than what separated them.
According to his set, late Fr Azolibe, who was the Dean of Igboukwu Catholic Deanery till his death, understood leadership as a call to service, and education as a tool for self-improvement; no wonder, he was a Master’s Degree Student of Department of Religion and Society, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igboariam, until his death.
