The Director of Social Communications, Catholic Diocese of Awka and the Director of Fides Media (Publishers of popular and widely read Fides Newspaper), Reverend Father Martin Anusi, has described Fides Newspaper as people’s newspaper, saying the major aim of floating the paper was to give voice to the voiceless and also to always identify with the masses at all times. He said Fides had lived and continued living up to its original plan.
Fr. Anusi who made the clarification while presiding over the meeting of the News and Editorial Department of the Fides Media held at the Fides Auditorium, Fidesplex, Okpuno, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, said Fides Newspaper should not be seen as a Church paper, but that of the people, stating that it covered religious and secular stories.
The Fides boss, while explaining the real essence of establishing the paper, paid glowing tribute to the Fides Media Staff, patronizers, fans and followers, stating that their contributions, support and criticisms helped immensely in making Fides Newspaper a household name in Anambra State and beyond.
Fr Anusi attributed Fides’ successes to consistency, dexterity, professionalism and availability, saying that the Management and staff of Fides Media would not rest on their oars. He said the testimonies of the people would spur the organization into doing bigger things.
In their separate speeches, the Deputy Director I of Fides Media and the Editor-in-Chief of Fides Newspaper; Rev. Fr Coach Obinna Dike and the Editor-in-Chief of Fides Newspaper, Hon Jude Atupulazi, enjoined all those present to glory in their medium and also be courageous, firm and dutiful.
