Fides Director Visits Catholic Herald Newspaper, Lagos  on Bridge Building Tour

Fides Media Director, Rev. Fr. Dr. Robert Anagboso, August 15, visited the Social Communications Directorate of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, publishers of The Catholic Herald Newspaper. Fides Media learnt that the Catholic Herald Newspaper was the first Catholic Newspaper in Nigeria which was founded in 1924.

The Fides Director, who was accompanied by Mr Alexander Johnson Adejoh, Fides Media Production Manager, were received by Rev. Fr. Anthony Godonu, Director of Lagos Archdiocesan Social Communications Directorate, represented by Mr. Tony Agbugba, Communications Manager, The Catholic Herald, Lagos.

MrAgbugba who welcomed the Fides team to Lagos, introduced them to staff members present. Speaking on behalf of the Lagos team, Lady NetaNwosu, Editor-in-Chief, The Catholic Herald, Lagos, encouraged Fides to keep reporting the truth and to be objective in their reportage.

In his response, Rev. Fr. Anagboso thanked the Lagos team for the warm reception and expressed his desire to have a good working relationship with The Catholic Herald. He described Fides Media as a Catholic media organization, committed to truth and objectivity in its reportage. He also said that Fides Media was open to collaborating with other Catholic media organizations in Nigeria.

The two parties agreed to work together in the areas of news gathering, training and production. They also agreed to share resources and collaborate on projects that would benefit the Catholic Church in Nigeria.

The meeting was fruitful and both parties expressed their satisfaction with the outcome. They agreed to meet again in the near future to discuss further details of their collaboration.

Fides Media, publishers of Fides Newspaper, is a Catholic media organization and the Social Communications Directorate of the Catholic Diocese of Awka. The organization is committed to providing accurate and objective news coverage of the Catholic Church in Awka, Nigeria and the whole world. Fides Media also produces a variety of Catholic media content, including articles, videos, and podcasts.

On the other hand, The Catholic Herald Newspaper is a weekly newspaper that is published by the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. The newspaper was founded in 1924 and is the oldest Catholic newspaper in Nigeria. The Catholic Herald covers a wide range of topics, including news, opinion, children, sports, politics and features.

The collaboration between Fides Media, Awka, and The Catholic Herald, Lagos, is a positive development for the Catholic Church in Nigeria. The two organizations will be able to work together to provide more comprehensive and accurate coverage of the Catholic Church in Nigeria. The collaboration will also help to strengthen the Catholic Church in Nigeria and to promote its mission of social evangelization.
