Fidelity Bank has signed a partnership with the Anambra State Government through the Anambra State Broadcasting Service, ABS, to promote the Igbo Language and Culture.
The promotion will come through a television series titled, ”Nduka”, which will be run in the Igbo Language on the state owned television station.
The series will address the fear of the dying Igbo Language and culture which has been severally expressed by most promoters of the language.
The Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of the station, Mr Uche Nworah, told journalists during a press briefing to herald the premiere of the series that the programme would promote salient cultures of the Igbo which were unknown to the younger generation.
Nworah said the series was one that was suitable to be watched together by family members of all ages. ‘It will be aired in Igbo, and will be suitable for people of all ages,’ he stated.
Also addressing journalists, a representative of Fidelity Bank, Mr Charles Aigbe, Divisional Head, Brand and Communications, said its reasons for partnering the company were legion.
‘We are delighted to partner you. We are an SME friendly bank, and the movie industry is one of the major drivers of the economy today, and we are glad to be of help in the industry,’ he said.
Earlier, Governor Obiano, represented by Mr Marcel Manafa, a member of Board of Trustees of the ABS and Special Adviser on television and television, said they were interested in promoting the Igbo Language and Culture to the world, assuring that it was what they intended to do the ”Nduka” TV series.
