He assured the FIDA team  that when the restrictions to the NYSC Camps  because of COVID-19 is lifted,  management shall give the federation the opportunity to address corps members during orientation courses in the FCT camp.

The NYSC helmsman informed his guests  that NYSC FCT Secretariat  is very gender sensitive in favour of women as over two third of the staff of the Secretariat are women.

Speaking earlier, the FCT FIDA Chairperson cited  the vision of the organisation thus: ‘To have a just, Peaceful, and equitable Nigerian society where women and children’s rights and interests are guaranteed’.

Mrs. Adejo asked that FIDA FCT branch be granted permission to train corps members on the provisions of the Violence Against persons Act 2015 during  orientation courses. She said this would enable the corps members to be peer educators to other youths on the need to eradicate gender based violence which include domestic violence, rape, and all forms of violence against women.

She further added that they would be trained para-legal who are first respondents in cases of threat of  violence to members of their host communities. She encouraged female lawyers in the FCT Secretariat to join the federation to contribute their quota to the service of humanity.

In attendance during the visit  were management team from both NYSC FCT and FIDA FCT branch
