Dr. Ugwuogo’s appointment as the new Deputy Provost of Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, Anambra State, came following the expiration of the tenure of his immediate predecessor, Dr Jane Chineyere Madichie on September 30, 2018.
Ugwuogo, a Ph.D holder in Business Education (Office Education), was appointed by the College Governing Council at her 7th meeting, held in the College from September 18-19, 2018, with Hon Philips Tatari Shekwo as Chairman.
The new Deputy Provost began his teaching career in the Department of Secretarial Education, Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, Kano State in 1992, but later joined the services of FCE (T) Umunze as a Principal Lecturer on February 6, 2006. He became a Chief lecturer in 2009 and served the College in various capacities.
In his remarks, the Council Chairman, Hon Philips Tatari Shekwo, described Ugwuogo as an erudite scholar, whose wealth of academic and leadership experience would benefit the College. He noted that the new Deputy Provost would work closely with the Provost, Dr Tessy Okoli, to take the College to an enviable height.
The chairman maintained that members of the Council would remain steadfast in pushing forward the development agenda of the College, with a view to making it a reference point among other tertiary institutions in the country.
Dr Ugwuogo, who was known for his humane and unassuming lifestyle, has served as Member, Ad-hoc Committee on Conversion of Instructors to Lecturers Cadre (2012, 2013, 2016); the Dean, School of Business Education, FCE (T), Umunze (2007 – 2011, 2012 – 2013); Chairman, School of Business Education Board of Studies (2007 – 2011, 2012 – 2013) and Chairman, NCE Admission Committee (2007 – 2013).

In a related development, the Council members also inspected on-going projects in the College and warned that the culture of abandoning projects by contractors would no longer be tolerated.
The Council Chairman, Hon Shekwo stressed that all contractors handling various building projects in the College must deliver their work within the specified duration time.
While inspecting the progress of work at the three-floor Computer-Based Test (CBT), Staff Office Building and the Administrative Block, along with other Council members, the Chairman insisted on the use of quality materials, and urged those monitoring the projects to maintain the optimum building standard.
Shekwo registered his displeasure over the slow progress of work at the massive Administrative Building, the only capital project of the College since 2016. He observed that the work done by the contractor handling the project was not commensurate with the amount paid to him, and advised him to get to work or face severe sanctions.
He promised that members of the College Governing Council would not relent in their efforts to take the College to new heights, by providing the required facilities and friendly environment for academic growth.
