As Catholics celebrate the Fathers’ Sunday, the Chaplain of Good Shepherd Chapel, Archbishop A.K Obiefuna Retreat, Pastoral Conference and  Center, Okpuno, Rev. Fr. Maximus Muoneke, has called on fathers to imitate the examples of St. Joseph who was the earthly father of Jesus Christ.

Fr. Muoneke who made the call while delivering a homily during the Fathers’ Day Celebration, said that the 2021 which had been declared as a year of St. Joseph was a special one for fathers, as St. Joseph showed a good example of what fatherhood should be.

He maintained that it was important for fathers to imbibe the virtues of St. Joseph and assume the responsibility of protecting, guiding and providing for the family entrusted under their care God.

‘This year is a special year for fathers because it is the year of St. Joseph as declared by the Holy Father, Pope Francis. St. Joseph showed good example of what fatherhood should be through the type of life lived.

‘The year of St. Joseph should teach fathers how to manage their homes and build effective relationship with both their wives and children. In all things, St. Joseph was humble, prayerful and a protector of the holy family. Fathers of today have a lot to learn from him to model their homes to that of the Holy Family’ he stated.
