Speaking on behalf of the  Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State, in a press statement, attributed the cause of the mishap to speed and loss of control by the truck driver.

According to eyewitness, the driver of the CRV was about entering Ukpo Junction when the truck, coming with speed from Ukpo Junction, went out of control and fell on the CRV.

Five persons were involved in the crash, comprising five male adults. Four of them sustained varying degrees of injury, while the remaining one, the driver known as Okoroafor, died.

The crash victims were rushed to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) Amaku, Awka.

The dead victim (driver of the CRV) was still trapped under the truck for a long time as officials of Federal Road Safety Corps at RS5.33 Nteje Unit Command, arrived and tried to remove the trapped body; even as the corps personnel worked tirelessly to control the traffic and clear the obstruction.

The Sector Commander, Anambra State Corps Commander, Adeoye Irelewuyi, commiserated with the family of the dead victim and prayed for the injured persons.
