Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria (CLCNAD) and an APGA aspirant for Aguata II Constituency Election, 2019, Comrade Emma Ezeokafor was on Saturday, August 4, 2018, honoured with Distinguished Meritorious Service Award by the Catholic Laity Council of Akpu Deanery, Awka Catholic Diocese.
The honour which was conferred on him, on the occasion of the 1st Deanery Day Celebration of Catholic Laity Council of Akpu Deanery, held at St Dominic Savio Seminary, Akpu, Orumba North L.G.A, Anambra State, was in recognition of his selfless and indefatigable services to Awka Diocesan Laity Council.
In his remarks while presenting the award plaque to Ezeokafor, the Episcopal Vicar of Akpu Catholic Region, Very Rev Fr Linus Ibekwe, who was represented by the parish priest of St Mary Parish, Ufuma, described Emma Ezeokafor as a reliable and purposeful leader of repute. He urged him not to relent in his good services to the Church and humanity.
Receiving the award, Comrade Ezeokafor, who is also the interim president of Catholic Men’s Organisation (C.M.O), Awka Diocese and a former president of Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), Awka Diocese, thanked God for the honour.
He appreciated Akpu Deanery Laity Council, for considering him worthy of the recognition and commended the current executive led by the president, Mr. Austine Ganco Okoli for organizing the successful and well-attended first ever deanery day for the Laity Council.
Pointing out that it pays to serve God, Ezeokafor enjoined all to, selflessly contribute to Church, human and societal developments, saying that God would never abandon those that trusted in Him. He noted that the good and healthy live as well as protections from accidents and evil plans which the people of God enjoyed, were some of the rewards that accompany selfless services to the Church and humanity.
In a related development, Comrade Emma Ezeokafor, urged mothers to always take good care of their children as well as ensure they inculcate values and good character in them.
The Oraeri, Aguata L.G.A-born aspiring legislator for Anambra State House of Assembly, who spoke at the 2018 Convention of Catholic Women’s Organisation (C.W.O), St Peter’s Parish, Aguluezechukwu recently, noted that inculcating values into the children were necessary to enable them be responsible partakers in the mission of building a better society for the entire masses.
He commended the mothers for the good developmental roles they play in their families, the Church and the society, praying God to endow them with the grace to sustain the good works.
