Delta NUJ Commends  Governor for Appointing Comrade Egugbo SSA Media

By Jude Atupulazi

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has congratulated Comrade Sir Fidelis Egugbo on his appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and designated as Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Sir.  Monday Onyeme.

In a press statement on Monday, signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, and Secretary, Comrade Patrick Ochei, the council assured the Governor of a cordial working relationship.

‘We are highly delighted receiving the news of Comrade Egugbo’s appointment as we hereby applaud His Excellency, the Governor, for rewarding the hard work and loyal services of Comrade Egugbo in the area of media.

‘It’s our joy to say that Comrade Egugbo merits the appointment as one journalist who has done his job professionally and with every sense of responsibility.

‘On behalf of members of the Union, we most profoundly congratulate him for this well-deserved appointment.

‘Equally, we want to use this medium once again, to commend the Governor for the two appointments he has made so far from the Media Constituency – the appointment of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and, of course, the appointment of Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor.

‘Whilst we appreciate His Excellency immensely for this cordial recognition of the NUJ in his appointments thus far, we equally use this opportunity to call on other key political office holders in the state to deem it necessary to appoint home grown professional journalists as their media assistants.

‘It is our assurance to continue to work in synergy with the government to ensure a harmonious working relationship with them going forward.

‘In a nutshell, we wish Comrade Egugbo the best of times in the service of our dear state, for we know that he will represent us well in the capacity of his office as Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Delta State,’ Ikeogwu said.
