… Hon Azubuogu Promises to Champion Youth Empowerment

The Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (C.Y.O.N.), Old Awka Diocese, on Saturday, July 11, donated COVID-19 palliatives to some needy members across the 23 deaneries of the diocese.
Speaking at the last General Council Meeting of the C.Y.O.N. which was held at St John’s Catholic Church, Umuokpu-Awka, Awka South LGA, Anambra State, on Saturday, July 11, 2020, the President, C.Y.O.N., Old Awka Diocese, Mr Izuchukwu Ezenwankwo, said the palliatives which included rice, noodles, sachets of tomatoes paste, seasoning cubes, vegetable oil and bottles of mayonnaise, were the youth organisation’s support to help the beneficiaries to cushion the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The president appreciated the former MD of Transcorp Group, Mr Valentine Chineto Ozigbo; the member representing Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Chris Azubuogu and the member representing Orumba South Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Emma Nwafor (Ntu-Japan), who he said, donated in support of the palliatives.
The palliatives were handed over to the deanery presidents of the 23 deaneries of the Old Awka Diocese for distribution to the beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, the member representing Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Hon Chris Azubuogu, has promised to work with C.Y.O.N. of the Catholic Diocese of Awka and the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia to devise means for the empowerment of the youths.
Hon Azubuogu, who stated this while addressing the Catholic youths at the meeting, observed that youth unemployment had been one of the great challenges affecting the youths. The legislator said he would work towards creating avenues that would enable the youths learn what he described as life sustaining skills, saying that such skills were what they needed to excel. He advised the youths to live out the values of hard work and focus, so as to succeed in life.
