CSN Hails Fides as Credible News Source

…As Communication Secretariat Promises Grants to Fides

The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), through Fr Mike Umoh, the National Director of Communications, and Joseph Ishu, former Editor of Good Shepherd Newspaper, a publication of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, have extolled the Fides Newspaper, describing it as a credible news source. They also commended the Fides Media Management for the transformation of Fides Media to what Fides Director, Rev. Fr Martin Anusi, described as a Multi-Media Village and a versatile media organization. Story by Alexander Johnson Adejoh and Precious Ukeje.

Mr Ishu who was on a tour of Fides Media alongside the entire staff of the Communications Department, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN, led by its  National Director, Very Rev. Fr Dr Mike Umoh, stated this at Fides Media Complex in Awka, Friday, November 13, 2020.

Ishu who doubles as the current News Editor, Nigerian Pilot, commended Rev. Fr Dr Anusi for transforming Fides into a citadel of entrepreneurship, noting that the growth level and nature of news stories from Fides reporters were not predictable.

He said, ‘I have heard a lot about Fides and I’m excited to be here to see things for myself. Fides Media is bigger than what I envisioned.

‘You are doing a great job here and I must say that you do everything in Fides, from printing to agriculture,’ Ishu added.

Also reacting, Fr Umoh, National Director, Social Communications Department, CSN, Abuja, who noted that he was impressed at what he saw, added that Fides had created a name for itself amongst reputable media houses in Nigeria.

He announced also that Fides had been earmarked to get grants from the CSN to enable it to do business more smoothly. This disclosure came on the heels of a remark by Fides Director, Fr Anusi, that Fides had done business over the years without grants.

Umoh extolled the quality of work done at Fides Media and expressed surprise that Fides had not taken grants to carry out what he described as ‘such enormous work’.

Fr Umoh urged Fides Director to prepare proposals and forward to the national office, promising to follow it up at every point where there was available grant.

Responding, Fides Director, Fr Anusi, thanked the National Director and his team for the visit, pledging the support and cooperation of Fides Media to the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN; even as he delved into the various operations carried out by Fides.
