COVID-19: Oye Fetes Amawbia Community Distributes Food Items, Cash Gift to Indigenes, Non Indigenes

The national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and his wife, Iyom Mary Oye last Thursday at Ezi Okpala-Igwe Square, Amawbia, in Awka South Local Government of Anambra State distributed six hundred bags of rice, 600 cartons of noodles and cash gift to all Indigenes and non Indigenes from the six villages that make up Amawbia community.

Names of the villages are as follows: Ezimezi, Umukabia, Ngene, Umueze, Enuorji, and Adabegbe.

The sumptuous event which started with an opening prayer attracted people from all walks of life.

Some of the dignitaries that attended the event included the Principal Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano, Sir Willy Nwokoye; the Igwe-elect of the community, Chief Chinyelu Nwora Molokwu; the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Hon. Leo Nwuba; the Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly and the member representing Awka South State Constituency, Hon. Pharm. Dr. G. Nnamdi Okafor; the APGA chairman in Awka South, Hon. Chikodili Nnonyelu; the national legal adviser of APGA, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa; the national Youth Leader of APGA, Hon. Comrade Anselm Chinedu Nebeife; the Anambra State Auditor General of APGA, Hon. Nchekwube Anthony Dunga; the member representing Aguata I State Constituency, Hon. Dr. Cater Dike Nnamdi Umeh; the member representing Orumba South State Constituency, Hon. Engr. Emma Nwafor, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on APGA Affairs and the Coordinator, APGA New Media, Hon. Nnanna Nzewi (Otabilionyenwanneya); the Special Assistants to the Governor on Transport, Hon. Mrs Felicia Okika, Hon. Jane Ejiofor; Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Hon. Mazi Takuso; Comrade Uloka Chuks and Comrade Chibuikem Nneke of the APGA New Media.

Unveiling the items for distribution, the national chairman of APGA, Ozonkpu Oye said the six hundred beneficiaries were selected by village chairmen, youth and women’s leaders of the various villages, noting that those who missed out this time around would benefit in the next phase, adding that he was not the one that made the selection.

APGA supremo who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Hon. Mike Nwofor (Ozuomee) noted that the Chairman was unavoidably absent, saying that Ozonkpu Oye and his wife had already distributed a lot of food items to the destitute, downtrodden, those living with disabilities, and the less privileged.

He said that the national chairman would stop at nothing until everyone was fed and taken care of, stating there would be more stimulus package in the near future, even as he urged the beneficiaries and those presence to continue to pray for him.

Earlier, a native of Amawbia and the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Sir Willy Nwokoye thanked Ozonkpu Oye for his kind disposition, noting what he (Oye) had done should be emulated, emphasizing that the national chairman was actually following Governor Willie Obiano’s examples.

He said that the government despite the COVID-19 pandemic had not relented in carrying out works in the state, stating that the governor recently visited the ongoing airport project and numerous road projects going on simultaneously in the state.

Also speaking, the Igwe-elect of the community, Chief Chinyelu Nwora Molokwu commended the national chairman for reaching out to his community, advising the beneficiaries to share with others with love.

In their separate speeches, the majority leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nnamdi Okafor (Akajiugo); Hon. Leo Nwuba (T/C Chairman of Awka South); Hon. Chikodili Nnonyelu (Chairman, APGA, Awka South), Hon. Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa (National Legal Adviser of APGA); Hon. Comrade Chinedu Anselm Nebeife (Ikenga Agunkwo); the president general of Amawbia community, Comrade Ebele Nwufo described Ozonkpu Oye as a giver and a compassionate leader whose sole interest interest was to better the lot of the people.

They stated that the APGA national chairman and his wife, Iyom Mary Oye were know for their unreserved and genuine generosity.

According to them, Ozonkpu Oye had already distributed food items to the three hundred and twenty six (326) wards in Anambra State.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to APGA New Media, Mr. Osita Chika from Umueze Village, Ngozi Ozoekwe from Umueze village, Mr. Chigozie Okonkwo from Adabegbe and Monica Okonkwo from Adabegbe expressed gratitude to God for the gift of Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye (Ozochikwadolu Amawbia).
