Motorists and commuters can no longer use the Asaba-Kwale Road because of the collapse of the Ogwashi-Uku Bridge. Fides understands that the bridge was under construction.
The cause of the collapse is not known as the company officials failed to talk to our reporter who visited the site of the collapsed bridge.
The Delta State Ministry of Works was also silent when contacted.
But commuters are now forced to use alternative routes for those going to Kwale, Ozoro, Ughelli and Warri from Asaba. The road is now totally closed to vehicular traffic.
It is only those on foot and those using bikes that are allowed to cross the bridge.
Commuters and transporters now use the Agbor Road to access Warri, Ughelli, Ozoro and Kwale.
Reports reaching Fides indicate the workers of the Chinese firm (CCECC) were making frantic efforts to fix the collapsed bridge.
