CMO, St Felix Parish, Nise, Holds 2023 Fathering Sunday

 … Gives Posthumous Awards to Deserving Heroes

The Catholic Men Organization, CMO, of St. Felix Parish, Nise, Awka South L.G.A. Anambra State, on Sunday May 7, held her 2023 Fathering Sunday and Merit Award Ceremony. The historical event whose climax was the presentation of  merit awards conferred on about fifty individuals, also served as an avenue to appreciate them for their dedication, support and contribution to the growth of the parish.

Leading in the Holy Mass, the Parish Priest of St Felix Parish, Nise, Rev. Fr. Joel Okechukwu, basing his reflections on the Sunday reading, charged everyone present to always celebrate and appreciate people that deserved honour, especially the aged. He also encouraged his parishioners to see heaven as their target and strive to be of good conduct and be ready to defend their faith at all times.

Speaking briefly before the final blessing, Rev. Fr. Pio Anthony Okafor, Deputy Director 1, Fides Media, the chief celebrant at the Mass, while thanking the host community for the warm welcome, assured the people of St. Felix Parish, Nise, of his constant prayers.

In his remarks, the chairman of C.M.O. in the parish, Sir Leo C. Enekwechi, thanked God for the success of the event. He commended Fr Okechukwu for ‘his selfless efforts in piloting the affairs of the parish’ and also commended CMO members for accepting with the idea of giving awards to those who had worked tirelessly for the growth of the Church.

He said the Merit Awards ceremony was organized in a bid to appreciate both the living and dead who had contributed towards the growth of the parish. He added that the Awards Ceremony was the first of its kind.

Also speaking, the Vicar of the Parish who doubles as the Manager of Rosary College, Nise, Rev. Fr. Martin Ekee, expressed his joy over the event, saying that the Awards Ceremony was a welcome development.
