Anambra NYSC Coordinator, Mr Kehinde Aremu has charged corps members to imbibe the lessons of Christmas in order to have a meaningful celebration of the yuletide.
He gave the charge during the 2nd edition of NYSC Anambra Carol and Nine lessons, held at the permanent orientation camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu recently.
‘Christmas has deeper meaning and not just for eating and drinking.’ He also added that the love of God Almighty exemplified through the birth of Christ must be emulated if Christmas is to be meaningful.
The Coordinator in his word of admonition drew lessons from the humility and service Christ exhibited while on the earth as these would be required of the corps members throughout the service year and beyond.
Mr.Valentine Ozigbo, Founder, Valentine Chineto Ozibgbo Foundation (VCO) and sponsor of the event, in his goodwill message, expressed his appreciation to the State Coordinator for the opportunity to relate with the corps the members.
Ozigbo also declared his desire to partner with the Scheme through mentorship and skills acquisition programs, which he said were the main thrust of his organization.
They were rendition of various carols reinforced by lessons from the Bible. There was presentations from the Batch ‘B’ steam 1 B Choir, NYSC staff Choir and VCO Foundation Choir.
High point of the event was the cutting of the Christmas cake and lighting up of fireworks which elicited cheers of excitement from the crowd.
