Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan dies at 61

The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) has announced the death of the Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese, Most Rev Joseph Danlami Bagobiri. He died at the age of 61.
CSN Director of Social Communications, Rev. Fr. Chris Anyanwu, made this known recently in a statement, in which he noted that Bishop Bagobiri died on Tuesday, 27th February, 2018 after a brief illness.
He appealed to Christians to pray for the repose of his soul as well as remember in prayers, the priests, religious and laity of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan at this challenging moment.
A source close to the diocese said bishop Bagobiri slumped and died in Kaduna while in attendance at a meeting of the bishops of Kaduna Ecclesiastical Province. The source added that he had been managing kidney complications for quite some years.
The burial arrangement has been scheduled for March 15, 2018 at Kafanchan Old Township Stadium with Holy Mass at 10.00am. The vigil takes place on the eve, March 14th, 2018 at the Diocesan Cathedral at 5pm. Meanwhile, Very Rev Fr. Joseph Billiyok has been appointed the new Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan pending when a substantive bishop will be appointed to fill the sede vacante.
