Catechist St Joseph’s Parish Amesi Loses Wife

The remains of late Lolo Cecilia Ashivuori Ezeakunne (Nee Okpalaobieri, were on Friday, June 7, 2019, interred to rest at her husband’s compound, Obinabo Village, Amesi, Aguata L.G.A, Anambra State.

Late Lolo Ezenwanne, fondly known as Ada Jesus, who died at 65 years on April 7, 2019, after years of illness, was the wife of the Catechist, St Joseph’s Parish, Amesi, Ichie Leonard Mary Ezeakunne.

The concelebrated burial Mass that preceded the interment, was led by the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Jonas Benson Okoye, who was represented by the Episcopal Vicar of Achina Region, Very Rev Fr Jerry Okeke, at St Joseph’s Catholic Parish, Amesi.

The parish priest, St Joseph’s Parish, Amesi, Rev Fr William Ozuluonye in his homily, charged the living to, in anticipation of heaven, spend their lives in attentiveness to the voice of God and resignation to divine providence.

Rev Fr Ozuluonye, who condemned cases of quarrels and bickering in families which he said never allowed either of the parents and even the children to serve God and society, however eulogised the deceased for the supports she gave to her catechist-husband.

He thanked God for the life of lasting faith in Him and resignation to divine providence spent by the late Lolo Ezeakunne, even in the most trying moments of her sickness.

The bereaved family through his funeral oration signed by the chief mourner and the widower, Ichie Catechist Ezeakunne, eulogised the deceased as a devout Catholic, a prayerful, caring and supportive wife and mother, who was consistent in sacraments, daily Holy Masses and daily rosary.

Late Cecilia Ezeakunne was an active member of many groups of the Church among which were Catholic Women’s Organisation (C.W.O), St Anthony of Padua, St Theresa of Holy Child Jesus and Association of Wives of Catechists, Awka Diocese.

She was also active in society, and belonged to the Lolos of Amesi, a group she joined in 2012, among other groups.

The deceased was survived by her husband she left on their 48th wedding anniversary, Ichie Catechist Leonard Mary Ezeakunne; 6 children (3 males and 3 females); 23 grandchildren; her aged mother, Mrs Benedette Oduagu Okpalaobieri and many relations.

Catechist Ezeakunne commended all who through care, prayers and support, stood by the wife during her sickness, joined in the Mass for the repose of her soul and wished the family comfort over the loss.

The well-attended burial ceremony had Bishop Peter Okpaleke; Director, C.W.O, Awka Diocese, Lady Theresa Azodo; Awka Diocesan Catechists Association; Akpo Deanery Choir; World Apostolate of Blue Army, Awka Diocese; Amesi Catholic Community; in-laws, among others in attendance.
