The Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese,His Eminence Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpaleke, has underscored the importance of good Christian living by following God’s teachings at all times.
Speaking during a Funeral Mass in honour of the late Mrs Theresa Obiekezie at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Urunebo, EnugwuUkwu, Njikoka Council Area of Anambra State, he reminded Christians that death was a sure end for all mortals which all must be prepared for by living a Christlike life.
The late Madam Obiekezie who died at the age of 83 was the mother of Prof Theresa Nkechi Obiekezie, former Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Pro Chancellor, Tansian University, Umunya.
Friends and well-wishers, including the Vice Chancellor, Tansian University, Prof Eugene Nwadialor; Prof Stella Okunna and university teachers from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, gave testimonies that the deceased lived a good life and sympathized with the family, enjoining them to take solace in God.
Reflecting on the life and times of her mother, Prof Obiekezie described her as an epitome of humility, beauty, kindness and as one who lived a fulfilled Christian life.
She said her mother took church activities seriously and liked attending Masses on time, even when her health started failing her, and kept admonishing all to live positively.
Dominic Obiekezie Jnr, son of the deceased, said her mother was accommodating and loved by all around her and appreciated God for the blessings she enjoyed.
