CAN, Anambra State, Gets New Chairman

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Anambra State Chapter recently elected new executive members that will pilot the affairs of the association for a single tenure of five years.

Venerable Joseph Nweke of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) who polled a total of 55 votes, emerged as the new chairman; Very Rev. Monsignor Jerome Madueke, the Director of Social Communications of the Catholic Diocese of Ekwuluobia, with 22 votes, emerged as the Vice Chairman.

Other elected officers included, Rev. Moses Echefu of the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Secretary and Rev. Dr. Jude Godwin of Christian Pentecostal Fellowship (CPFN)/ Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), the Treasurer.

In his opening speech, the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Southeast Zone, Bishop Dr. Goddy Okafor, enjoined all to propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ and as well shun greed and avarice.

In his acceptance speech, Venerable Nweke thanked the umpire, CAN national leadership, and all those who participated in the election. He enjoined all to support his administration, promising to carry everyone along.

The election was adjudged by observers as free, fair and credible.
