On Saturday, June 15, 2019, Aguluzigbo Community hosted the launch of Mr. Nworah M. Nnadozie’s book titled, “Good and Effective Leadership: The Cornerstone of National Development”. The book launch held at Aguluzigbo Town Hall, witnessed the coming together of intellectuals from different walks of life.
The book which focused on accountable leadership discussed “The emergence of governance in an organised society, the role of political class in national leadership and how great nations emanate from great leaders”. It went further to point out key instruments in political leadership while outlining the challenges of political leadership in Nigeria.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and Special Assistant to the Anambra State Governor on Housing, Engr. Simeon Okafor, commended the author for writing the book, which, he said society required in contemporary circumstances, as many communities were engulfed in leadership crises.
Engr. Okafor listed among others, education, humility, courage, self-control, fore sight, experience and honesty, as important qualities every good leader should have.
‘Good leadership ensures transparency, accessibility and respect in the entire administration by advocating fairness and total commitment to duty in order to ensure sanity, integrity and high moral values amongst the people,’ he said.
Engr. Okafor, a former President General of Aguluzigbo, further called for peace among the people of Aguluzigbo, noting that charity began at home.
Reviewing the book, the CEO of Black and Proud Advertising Ltd, Dr. Chuka Nwosu, described the author as a very kind and considerate person, intellectually sharp but taciturn, noting that the book was truly “The Cornerstone of National Development”.
Dr. Nwosu further recommended the book to every literate person and intellectual community, but more directly to students and people in management and leadership positions, who were given to organized political thought. He therefore advised readers of the book to take time off mundane things like filthy lucre, so as to imbibe the real wealth of knowledge in the vital area of effective leadership and management of the country’s resources for economic development.
Speaking to Fides, the author of the book, Mr. Nworah M. Nnadozie, recounted his academic journey which ushered him into a successful career in marketing and advertising. Mr. Nnadozie, author of four books, attributed his love for writing to his days in the United Kingdom where he spent long hours daily in research and development.
The author, who said it took him less than a year to write and publish the book, said he was motivated to write on leadership due to the dearth of effective leadership in the country. He cited some global leaders like Nelson Mandela of South Africa and Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, as effective leaders worthy of emulation.
