Bishop Okpaleke Makes 14 New Appointments for Ekwulobia Diocese

Barely three months after his initial first appointments, the Catholic Bishop of the new Ekwulobia Diocese, Most Rev Peter Ebere Okpaleke, has announced fourteen more appointments for the diocese.

According to the information released by the Diocesan Chancery, Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia (CADEK), signed by the Chancellor, Rev Fr Lawrence Nchekwube Nwankwo, and dated July 6, 2020, the latest bishop’s appointments included, Episcopal Vicar for Religious, Rev Fr Jude Ekemgba, C.S.Sp; Director, Pontifical Mission Societies (P.M.S), Rev Fr Festus Okoye; Director, Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Commission (J.D.PC), Rev Fr Sabastian Anokwulu and Assistant Director, Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Commission (J.D.PC), Rev Fr Emmanuel Izuagba.

Others were Coordinator, Society for the Propagation of Faith, Rev Fr Alphonsus Iloekwe; Director, Holy Childhood Association (HCA), Sr Priscilla Miriam Onakpa, HFSN; Chaplain, Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria (C.L.C.N.), Rev Fr Emmanuel Umezinwa; Chaplain, Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (C.Y.O.N.), Rev Fr Alexander Okoli; Assistant Chaplain, Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria, Rev Fr Emmanuel Nwafor; Chaplain, Catholic Men’s Organisation (C.M.O.), Rev Fr Peter Nwankwor; Chaplain and Catholic Women’s Organisation (C.W.O.), Rev Fr Anthony Ezeogamba.

Other appointments included the Chaplain, Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria (C.C.R.N.), Rev Fr Coleman Onuegbu; Assistant Chaplain, Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria, Rev Fr John Nwankwo and Director, Catholic Women’s Organisation, Lady Theresa Chinyere Azodo, LSM.

The bishop wished the appointees God’s abundant graces in their offices.

Until his appointment, the Vicar for Religious, Rev Fr Ekemgba, C.S.Sp, a priest of the Congregation for the Spiritans, was the Principal, Holy Ghost Academy, Amaokpala, while the P.M.S Director, Rev Fr Okoye, was the chaplain of Holy Childhood Association of Isuofia Deanery and parish priest, St Theresa’s Parish, Isuofia.

The J.D.P.C. Director, Rev Fr Anokwulu, a former director of J.D.P.C., Awka Diocese, was the Director of the Old Awka Diocesan Masdevan Farm, Urum, Anambra State, while the assistant director of J.D.P.C., Rev Fr Izuagba, was the vicar of St Paul’s Parish, Ugwuoba.

Rev Fr Iloekwe, of the Society for Propagation of Faith, was the parish priest, St Patrick’s Parish, Ogbunka; the HCA Coordinator, Sr Onakpa, HFSN, was of the Holy Family Sisters of the Needy Community, St Joseph’s Cathedral, Ekwulobia.

The C.L.C.N. Director, Rev Fr Umezinwa, was and is still the associate professor of the Faculty of Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Rev Fr Okoli the C.Y.O.N. Chaplain, was the Chaplain of C.Y.O.N., Old Awka Diocese, while the assistant chaplain of C.Y.O.N., Rev Fr Nwafor, was until his appointment, the assistant manager of Loretto Special Science School, Adazi-Nnukwu.  The C.M.O. Chaplain, Rev Fr Nwankwor, was the parish priest of St Anthony’s Parish, Ikenga. Fr Nwankwor served as a former Director, Catholic Project of Awka Diocese (CAPAD) for years.

Rev Fr Ezeogamba, the C.W.O. Chaplain, is an associate professor of the Faculty of Arts, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (C.O.O.U.), Anambra State. The C.C.R.N. Chaplain, Rev Fr Onuegbu, was the parish priest, St Paul’s Parish, Awba-Ofemili, while the C.W.O. Director, Lady Azodo, was the director of C.W.O., Old Awka Diocese.
