The auxiliary Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye has flagged-off Omelora Isreal Ezue Foundation with a call to the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme to make effective use of donated vehicles.

The maiden empowerment programme of the foundation which commenced with the donation of 6 tricycles, 6 shuttle buses, 4 sharan buses, 1 Gulf and a Tipper truck solely sponsored by the founder, Chief Isreal Ezue was flagged off on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Vehicles for the empowerment programme were given out to the beneficiaries by the Founder and CEO Whitegate International Venture Ltd, sole distributor of Cheng and Maxxis Tyres in Nigeria, Chief Isreal Ezue, during the Otute Awanigbo New Yam Festival of Awa Community.

Flagging off the Foundation, Bishop Okoye thanked the founder for his simplicity, charity to home community and for exemplifying the way of Christ through his activities. He tasked the beneficiaries to use the donated vehicles to better their lives and empower others by purchasing another set of the donated vehicles through the fund to be earned from the commercial activities which they were expected to deploy the vehicles to. He identified diligence and hard work as key factors that lead one to success.

The Catholic prelate said it was expected for each of the beneficiaries to bring forth another of the donated vehicle by 2019 as such gesture would empower others as they couldn’t drive two vehicles at the same time. He encouraged the donor to keep donating to humanity. He noted that the like of the founder comes from a given community once in a century and beckoned on the community to tap into the blessing given to them by God for their betterment.

He regretted that some people after receiving one help or the other turn back to claim that the helper wants to take their destiny and talents through the help rendered, after reckless usage. He admonished the beneficiaries to free their minds from such beliefs and work out their breakthrough, bearing in mind that the donor also suffered during his beginning stage and the money used to purchase the vehicles was worked for.

He appreciated Ezue’s contributions in the church and prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon his household.

Donating the vehicles, Chief Israel Ezue who is the Traditional Prime Minister of Awa Community, beckoned on the beneficiaries to make effective use of the vehicles to better their lives and contribute positively towards the development of Awa Community. He chided them against selling the received vehicles, noting that they could return it, for the said vehicle to be given to another person rather than selling it and spending the money on frivolities.

Ezue who had set up Garri Processing factory and Open Market for women in the community, noted that the 2018 Otute Awaigbo was organized in a bid to address some societal challenges of life rather than merriment as was observed in past years, recalled days when his parents were faced with untold hardship. He observed that the genesis of Omelora Foundation was firm resolution to alleviate the sufferings of the people through his God given wealth.

He maintained that the vehicles donated was in line with government’s approach of having a better transport system and reaffirmed the commitment of the foundation towards the improvement of human life.

Speaking to Fides, some beneficiaries of the empowerment programme, Mr. Vincent Nwankwo from Ndiowu was given a Tipper truck; Ruben Okoli Nwajagu from Awa with a shuttle bus and Alexander Egwuogu from Ndikeliowu with Shuttle Bus expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the donor and prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon him. They revealed their intention towards putting into effective use, the donated vehicles, saying that the fund to be realized from the commercial activities which the vehicles would be put into, would be used to purchase other vehicles in a bid to empower others in the community.

Fides gathered that the celebration witnessed the presence of important personalities, over 30 Traditional Rulers and performance of about 60 cultural dance troupes and masquerades from Anambra State and beyond.
