Anambra State House of Assembly Member-elect for Aguata 11 Constituency, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye has called on youths in the state to be impactful and contribute their quota to the development of society rather than consistently waiting upon the government.

The House of Representative member made the call recently at Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA, Anambra State while addressing youths on the need for them to contribute qualitatively to the affairs of the nation. He stated that being impactful entails resourcefulness and noted that such attitude was greatly needed in the nation as it would help propel development from various quarters in Nigeria.

He tasked youths to desist from depending so much on what government will do for them but rather be more concerned with what they would contribute in the affairs of the nation. He noted that such mindset would encourage creativity and assist Catholic youths in developing the patriotic spirit lacked by most youths in Nigeria.

In his words, ‘I encourage the youths to always reduce their dependency on the government. It is important they begin to consider what and how they would contribute to the progress of their family, community, church and government. As a youth, you should begin now to think of how to help the government, develop creative and innovative ideas that will help you to make your mark in the administration of your country. This is also a way of being patriotic citizen. By developing the mindset of contributing to one’s country, the person will be doing something good for his welfare and posterity will surely recognize his efforts’ he stated.

Hon. Okoye assured the youths of his steady commitment towards partnering with them to assist in the development of their potentials. He said he would be accessible to the youths throughout his tenure as a house member. He commended the youths for their devotion, dedication and support to both the church, government and society.

He argued that the life style of the youths could be corrected by the leaders through their exemplary conduct and by running an all-inclusive administration to give people that sense of belonging which they desire. Giving a sense of belonging to the youths, according to the House Member Elect, would enable them to develop optimally and draw out those who have taken to vices as a way of living.
