The Education Secretary of Catholic Diocese of Awka, Rev Fr Hilary ObinnaNwajagu, has commended the Management, staff and students of the Catholic Diocese of Awka-owned AUSTICA Memorial College, Nanka, Orumba North LGA, for what he described as the school’s giant strides in academic work, character formation and music.
Rev Fr Nwajagu, who stated this at the 2019 Annual End of Year Party and Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons of the College, held on December 15, described AUSTICA College, Nanka, as a plus to Catholic education.
The education secretary, who extolled the secondary school students for what he described as the special confidence which they displayed in their various musical performances and handling of complex musical instruments, said AUSTICA College had given good impression to Catholic education.
Earlier at the concelebrated Holy Mass that was led by the parish priest of Mary, the Queen Parish, Ihiala, Rev Fr Augustine Ndukaji; the former Spiritual Director of Pope John Paul II Major Seminary, Okpuno, Rev Fr Barr Anthony Ezeoke, in his homily, exhorted all to be embodiments of discipline.
Rev Fr Barr Ezeoke, who decried what he identified as the menace which indiscipline had caused society, described discipline as what was necessary for the proper formation of every individual created by God.
Pointing out that no one would dispose himself to learning without discipline, the homilist charged the students to, with discipline, make out the best out of the quality education and all round formation opportunity they had in the Catholic school so as to excel in life. He prayed that the spirit of God would enable all to do justice to the demands of their discipleship as Christians.
In his remarks, the host and principal of AUSTICA Memorial College, Nanka, Rev Fr Barr ObioraOkeke, noted that the annual event was set aside to honour Jesus Christ, the saviour of mankind, with music.
