The University of Calabar has sent home its students in the wake of renewed strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
In a press statement by the Registrar of the Institution, Mr Gabriel Egbe, last Tuesday, the university asked the students to vacate their hostels and wished them journey mercies.
The press statement which directed the students to leave the institution not later than 6 pm on Tuesday, 29 March 2022, said the directive was premised on the fact that the strike embarked upon by Non-Teaching Staff of Nigerian Universities.
Consequently, the Acting Chief Security Officer has been advised to lock up all the hostels, as well as deploy security men to man all halls of residence and wished the students journey mercies as they travelled to meet their parents/guardians.
They enjoined the students to take advantage of the strike period to engage in worthy activities that would add value to their lives.
