Members of the Nigeria Conference of Women Religious (NCWR) Onitsha branch has won laurels at the just concluded Biennial Provincial Day Celebration held on Thursday 28th April-Sunday 1st May, 2022.
President of NCWR Onitsha Area Sr. Theresa Ilechukwu MC, said her team excelled and won laurels on some sporting events such as sack race, march past etc.
According to her, the Onitsha Area went for the competition in high spirit and prayerful commitment.
Sr. Ilechukwu thanked Heads of the various communities of the religious for their encouragement which resulted in their success.
She also thanked the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke for his dynamic Leadership of the Ecclesiastical Province which has provided conducive atmosphere for all and sundry.
In his goodwill message to the entire NCWR members through its President Sr. Mary Noeleen Obi (IHM), the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke urged members of the religious to be steadfast in their calling and put themselves at the service of Christ the Redeemer, who came “that we may have life and have it in abundance.”
”Also, I commend each of you and the entire event to the patronage of our Blessed Mother, Mary. Be assured of union with you in prayers for the success and fruitfulness of this event,” the Archbishop prayed.
The theme of this year’s celebration is Synodality: Communion, Participation and Mission.
It was held at the Archbishop A. K. Obiefuna Retreat, Pastoral and Conference Centre, Okpuno Awka.
