Youths in Anambra are set to welcome opportunities in digital skills and cutting edge technology from the state.

Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, made this known during his unveiling/groundbreaking Solution Innovation District at De Destination Hub, Awka, Anambra State, on 1st August 2023.

Fides reports that the district serves as a one-stop shop for youth services and innovation, providing training, incubation, and free internet access with reliable power supply.

Governor Soludo expressed his appreciation to Microsoft and Wootlab Foundation for partnering with the state government to make the project possible. The current Government House will eventually become the permanent site of the Solution Innovation District once the ongoing new government house is completed.

During the event, Governor Soludo emphasized the importance of disruptive changes and the need for Anambra youths to embrace continuous innovation and technology. He urged the youth to seize the opportunities presented by those changes and emphasized the state government’s commitment to the development of Anambra’s youth.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Mrs Chinwe Okoli, while speaking, commended Governor Soludo on his dedication to realizing this vision which, she said, aimed to establish Anambra State as the digital and creative capital of Nigeria.

‘The Solution Innovation District is designed to provide Ndi Anambra with the platform and ecosystem to unleash their creativity and explore their ideas. It offers a conducive environment with steady power supply, high-speed internet, and other amenities to support the youth in building their innovative solutions.

‘Under the programme, ‘Level Up Anambra’, the district successfully trained 20,000 Ndi Anambra on digital skills in partnership with Microsoft and Wootlab Foundation. The top performers received incentives such as internship placements and laptop awards,’ she said.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, and the Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, affirmed that the Solution Innovation District aligned with Governor Soludo’s commitment to the development of Anambra’s youth.

The event was attended by prominent figures from the Anambra State Government, including the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, the Head of Service, and other members of the Executive Council and House of Assembly.
