Anambra State CSDA Undertake 2nd Batch Project Field Appraisal In Rural Communities

Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA) is an Agency of Anambra State Govt. set up to carry out Community and Social Development Project (CSDP). CSDP is a World Bank assisted project which aims at poverty reduction in rural communities through Community Driven Development (CDD) approach.

ANCSDA have successfully undertaken its first community entrance project activities in all the interested communities in the current twelve (12) focal LGAs ie. Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, Awka-North, Orumba-North, Ogbaru, Oyi, Idemmili North, Orumba South, Ihiala, Dunukofia and Anaocha LGAs. Such activities as Community sensitization, Socio-Economic profiling of the Community’s existing infrastructures, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) in which the Community members identify and prioritize their needs for CSDP Intervention and the election of the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) that will monitor and execute the micro projects.

As part of the major requirements for the 2nd Batch approval of the Community Development Plan (CDP) made up of micro projects to be implemented, a Technical team comprising the management and some Technical officers of the State Agency as well as Technical personnel from the LGAs and relevant MDAs took part in the Field Appraisal (FA) visits at the proposed sites for the micro projects in Six (6) communities namely Awba Ofemili, Ugbene, Oroma Etiti, Mgbakwu, Ebenebe and Igbakwu. The proposed micro projects are in different sectors such as Health, Education, Water Resources, Rural Electrification, Transport, Socio Economic, Environment/Natural Resources, Gender and Vulnerable.

The FA team who were led by the Operation Manager ANCSDA, Mrs Uche Nwaizugbo on behalf of the General Manager, Mr Chudi Mojekwu, expressed satisfaction with the overall success of the Field visits and promised to ensure speedy implementation of the micro projects by the communities once the World Bank gives a “No Objection” approval for the CDP implementation.

On their own part, the various spokespersons for the communities visited expressed their joy at the poverty reduction and community empowerment interventions of ANCSDA and also thanked the State Governor, HE, Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano for his giant stride in ensuring that CSDP-AF became operative in Anambra State to the major benefit of poor rural community members in the state.
