National Youth Service Corps, Anambra State has flagged off 2021 Environmental Sanitation Exercise. The ceremony took place at the Neni Civic Centre, Anaocha Local Government Area recently.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, State Coordinator, NYSC Anambra, who presented the address of Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, Director General, NYSC, said the essence of the exercise is to enlighten the general public particularly rural dwellers on health risk of poor hygiene as well as prevention of food, water and environmental contamination.
The theme of this year which is “Clean Environment/Good Hygiene: Panacea for Good Health and Long Life” is meant to rally members of the community to participate in the programme.
The programme accentuates sensitization, disease surveillance, reports of outbreaks, promotion of cooperation among community members and reduction of ignorance or indifference and so on.
Corps members displayed much willingness to drive the message of the scheme regarding environmental cleanliness and hygiene as they zealously carried their sanitation duties to the delight of members of their host communities.
The event which is to hold on forthnight basis had in attendance, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Damian Ezeani, (Ugonabo Neni) and other prominent members of the community as well as Assistant Directors of NYSC Anambra State.
