The Anambra State Government has dismissed as fake, a link circulating on social media for the empowerment of youths in the state.
The fake empowerment programme promised N2 billion financial empowerment to 5,000 youths in the state.
But the Press Secretary to the state governor, Mr Christian Aburime, has described the link as fake and not emanating from the government.
A press release disclaiming this, which was signed by Aburime, said: ‘It has come to the attention of the Anambra State Government that a fraudulent message is circulating on various platforms, falsely claiming that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, is offering a N2 billion Naira empowerment grant to 5, 000 Anambra Youths.
‘The scam message also provides a link, urging individuals to apply for the said grant and also share the information for others to benefit.
‘The Anambra State Government categorically disclaims this message in its entirety and hereby informs the public that it is a blatant scam.’
The state government recently trained youths in the state with skills, and also empowered them financially to start up business in a programme named; 1 Youth, 2 Skills.
Aburime said the governor had the welfare of youths at heart and would continue to ensure trainings and empowerment of youths, but added that such opportunities were always advertised through government websites and press releases signed by its officials and not through faceless and fraudulent links.
