The Transition Committee Chairman Anambra East L.G.A, Dr. Anselm Onuorah has made a solemn resolution to improve the welfare of Anambra East Workers and to leave indelible marks before the expiration of his tenure.
Speaking during an interactive session with the entire body of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Anambra East Chapter, the Chairman offered the staff free medical treatment for sicknesses which bill does not exceed N10,000 at Immaculate Heart Hospital, Aguleri, emphasizing that this is quite different from ASHIA programme.
Still speaking, Dr. Onuorah promised to run an open door administration and to make available an official vehicle to be conveying workers from Awkuzu junction to the Secretariat for at least two trips every working day to boost regular and early attendance to work by the staff even as he advised them to make good use of daily movement register for security reasons.
Furthermore, he promised to keep workers busy by providing them with stationery and other necessary materials needed in their offices and to improve on the on-going renovation of the administrative blocks. He also promised to organize monthly birth day mini-celebration on the last Friday of every month for those born that particular month and restore general sanity to the council.
On environmental sanitation, the council boss enjoined every staff to be an advocate of government by helping to keep our homes, offices and everywhere we are neat. He then pledged to make Anambra East the neatest Local Government Council in Nigeria.
In their separate speeches, the NULGE Chairman, Comrade John Ikeli and the Head of Education & Social Development Department, Dr. Mrs. Amuche Ofojebe expressed unalloyed gratitude to the Chairman for his care and concern for worker’s welfare and on behalf of the entire staff promised to reciprocate these kind gestures by being productive in their respective offices.
