The Nibo Community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State has banned masquerade from coming out in the Community until further notice.

The Igwe in-council of the Community made the decision after getting a report of how a masquerade brought out a gun to threaten its’ fellow masquerade.

Arising from the ban, no masquerade was seen displaying in the Community’s market square or on the roads during the last Easter celebration.

Our source said that the Community leaders and the entire indigenes were shocked that a masquerade brought out a gun during a popular festival called “Ikpo eke” in March 2021 to threaten its counterpart.

Our correspondent gathered that the traditional ruler of the Community, His Royal Highness, Dr. Micheal Ngene and his cabinet have warned the youths in the Community to desist from any form of social vices to avoid facing the wrath of law.

He promised to work with Community leaders to  prevent such thing from repeating itself.

Our correspondent observed that as a result of the ban, no masquerade was seen displaying in this Easter period.
