Anambra Communities Honour GUO Son With Chieftaincy Title

Ten Communities that constitute Anocha Local Government Area in Anambra State, have honoured one of the sons of the Founder/Chairman of GUO Group of Companies, Chief Godwin Ubaka Okeke, Dr. Emeka Okeke, with a Chieftaincy title of “Ikemba Di Ugwu” (meaning, the strength of a people that is glorious).

The Communities are; Aguluzigbo, Agulu, Neni, Ichida, Adazi Nnukwu, Adazi Enu, Adazi Ani, Akwa Eze, Nri and Obeledu.

The honoured took place at the Council Headquarters, Neni, over the weekend during its 2021 New Yam Festival celebration.

The festival also attracted the ten traditional rulers in the Council Area led by their Chairman, Igwe Damian Ezeani, other prominent sons and daughters of the Council Area, top government officials, the Clergy, APGA members and hosts of others.

In his address, the Transition Committee Chairman of the Council Area, Chief Patrick Onyedum, called for the proper harnessing of the rich cultural heritage of the area to improve the revenue base of the council area and that of the State in general.

He said Dr. Okeke was honoured with the Tittle for his numerous contribution to the youths and other less privileged people in the area.

The Chairman explained that the essence of organising the event was to appreciate God and showcase their rich cultural heritage to the global Communities.

Dr. Emeka Okeke, who addressed Journalists shortly after the conferment, harped on the need for all to think home, in line with the Aku-luo-uno mantra of the present administration of Governor Willie Obiano.

While commending the State Governor, his father, Chief Godwin Okeke, the Council Chairman, Senator Victor Umeh and other top leaders in the area, for their various contributions to the development of the State, noted that he will commence Youth Football competition across the ten Communities next week.

Dr. Emeka Okeke is a Medical Practitioner and a former Anambra State Football Association (FA) Caretaker Committee Chairman.
