The 6th Anambra State House of Assembly has resumed sittings for the last lap of the legislative year after a month’s break.
Welcoming members of the House back from recess, the Speaker of the House, Barrister Rita Maduagwu, applauded members of the House for executing projects in their various constituencies during recess, assuring that the zeal and commitment of the lawmakers in enacting laws and resolutions aimed at fostering development in the state, as well as improving the living standard of the citizenry, would continue to wax stronger.
Also at the plenary, the House passed a resolution congratulating Governor Willie Obiano and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Oye, on the victory at the Supreme Court.
The member representing Njikoka Constituency II, Hon. Sir (Dr.) Pete Ibida, who sponsored the motion, explained that the Apex Court had by their judgement affirmed that Chief Oye was duly elected during the National Congress of the party in 2015, noting that the legendary performance of the APGA National Chairman, Chief Oye, in management of the affairs of the party resulted in the victory. Sir Ibida described the judgement as a clear testimony of the internal democracy and spirit of brotherhood which, he said, were the foundations of the party.
For his part, the Deputy Speaker, Sir Harford Oseke, described the judgement as an act of God, while the member representing Anambra East Constituency, Chief Obinna Emeneka, noted that the judgement had brought to an end the protracted case.
The Speaker of the House, Maduagwu, commended the Supreme Court for allowing the rule of law to prevail in the judgement. She expressed happiness that the leadership crisis in the party had been laid to rest and urged the National Chairman, Chief Victor Oye, to continue his good administration of the party which, she said, had produced many positive results.
The Speaker while commending the Leader and Board of Trustees Chairman of the party, Governor Willie Obiano, for his fatherly roles and efforts in sustaining the identity and supremacy of the party, enjoined APGA faithfuls across the state to remain resolute in their support to the party.
