AIFL Matches Debut at the New Awka City Stadium as Father Obinna Commend the State Government.

The Chairman Anambra Independent Football eague, (AIFL) Rev. Father Obinna Dike, has commended the Chairman, Anambra State Sports Development commission, Chief Tony Oli, and the out going administration of Governor, Willie Obiano, for the effort made to put in place, a beautiful Football Stadium in Awka Capital City.

The newly constructed stadium, hosted AIFL matches this Friday, and It was an interesting  atmosphere as fans were thrilled with great footballing artistry.

After watching events unfold at the new Awka City stadium, an elated AIFL Chairman, Rev.Father Obinna Dike, expressed his excitement and praised the out going government of Gov, Willie Obiano, for the Stadium.

‘We’re highly elated and on behalf of Anambra Independent Football League, I commend the Gov, Willie Obiano led administration for finally, taking the bold step and pushing through this stadium project, even though this is the first stage out of three, we have the track ready, we have the playing field, an high breed latest technology synthetic pitch.

‘I must also commend Chief Tony Oli, for coming down to our level and making sure that AIFL matches are played at the stadium.

‘We thank the Anambra state government, for giving us this platform without asking us for one naira, nobody collected a dime from us and I, believe this legacy will continue under Gov, Soludo.

‘Tony Oli, has etched his name, in the history of Anambra Independent Football League because he is so committed to the development of the League and sports generally in the state, he took us seriously and promised to do everything humanly possible and he insisted and pushed to get this facility ready, I,m very happy and I, can now go home and sleep very well because I now feel fulfilled.’

Three matches were played with the first match between Rangels FA of Achina, and Cardinal Arinze FC of Onitsha, ending in an entertaining 1-1 draw.

Mekon FC of Umunze, maintained their position on top of the league table as they came from behind to win 2-1, against Bubbendorf FC of Adazi Nnukwu.

In the last match of the day,

Peace FC of Awka, came out tops in another entertaining encounter holding on to their lead to win 2-1, against GP World Football Academy of Nnewi.

The AIFL Chairman in his statement added, ‘the players are very happy, when you finish training and come and play in a standard pitch you’ll really express your self and show your skills, you can see them taking pictures and teams stayed back to watch others after their own matches.

‘Over the years we have been begging people to support us but thank God, we have gotten a facility,and our partners can now come down from abroad for scouting programs.

‘With what happened here today, Ndi Anambra should watch out in the next six months and see that Anambra has football stars.’ he concluded.
