A Group known as Aguleri-Umueri For Peace, has praised Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State for his numerous efforts geared towards the development of the State.
The Group whose main objective is to restore lasting peace and unity in both Aguleri and Umueri communities in Anambra East Local Government Area, said that peace remains the only way to have a progressive society.
Speaking to Newsmen in Awka, the Chairman, Aguleri-Umueri For Peace, Comrade Peter Chinedu said the goal of the Group is to stop incessant crises between the two communities.
The Group also commended Governor Willie Obiano for building legacy projects in the State, especially the Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport, Umueri, the International Conference Centre Awka as well as the Awka Township Stadium.
He noted that all the youth leaders, traditional rulers, town union executives and other stakeholders in the two communities have given them full support, adding that they would deploy available resources to ensure that peace finally returns to the area.
Comrade Chinedu further urged indigenes of both communities to embrace peace that has returned to the area.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of the Group, Mr. Anthony Chukwuma said that they have planned a number of peace and unity events, including non-denominational prayer rally among others.
