The paramount ruler of Umumbo community in Ayamelum LGA HRM Igwe Barr. Simeon Chidube (Aboh of Umumbo) has commended the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA) for its various developmental interventions in poor communities that are geared towards poverty reduction and thereby touching lives positively in the rural communities.
Speaking at the project launch event of the ANCSDA in Umumbo community held recently in which the State Agency released the 1st tranche (30%) of the funds for the approved micro projects (MPs) to be implemented in the community by the community members through a Community Driven Development (CDD) approach, the Royal father and the entire Umumbo community are rejoiced at the launching of the micro projects that will enormously benefit their community, and specially commended the state governor, HE, Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano, for his giant strides in ensuring that Anambra CSDA came into existence in Anambra State.
In his speech, the General Manager, ANCSDA, Mr Chudi Mojekwu commended the Traditional Ruler, Town Union leaders, members of Umumbo Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) and the entire Umumbo community for the various roles they played during the Socio-Economic Prifling of the community, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) to identify and prioritize the needs of the community and then, the election of the CPMC members that will oversee the implementation of the MPs. These efforts, he said culminated in the approval of the sets of micro projects by the World Bank and the subsequent release of the 1st tranche of funds by ANCSDA at this project launch. The GM revealed that the two approved MPs for implementation in Umumbo community are Construction of 3km Feeder Road and the Renovation of Health Centre at a total cost of Nine Million Five Hundred and Seventy-Three Thousand Four Hundred and Twenty-Seven Naira fifty kobo (=N=9,573,427.50). Speaking at the event, the Operation manager, ANCSDA, Mrs Uche Nwaizugbo, expressed her joy at the launching of these approved MPs in Umumbo which involved the release of the 1st tranche of funds and commencement of the project implementation by the community. She urged the Umumbo CPMC members to ensure the effective and efficient utilization of the released funds for the project implementation, and also charged the community members to ensure that the MPs are properly managed and sustained after completion.
In his vote of thanks, the Umumbo CPMC Chairman, Hon. Peter Okoye expressed his joy at the launching of the MPs in the community and promised to ensure the judicious use of the funds in implementing the projects. The Desk officer (DO) Ayamelum LGA, Mrs Theresa Uzoechina also thanked the State governor through the ANCSDA for this laudable development intervention in their Umumbo community.
