Over three thousand persons mostly farmers and indigent parents in Umuoba Anam have received free medical care from Pharmacist Obinna Emeneka, the member representing Anambra East Constituency at the State House of Assembly.
It was the second community to benefit from this kind of gesture from the lawmaker after the launch of the 2019 Phase of the Pharmacist Obinna Emenaka Free Medical Outreach in Umueri Community
Addressing the people, the lawmaker said the aim was to ensure that healthcare services were given to the rural farmers who often lacked the capacity and finance to assess medicals in the riverine environment.
Hon Emeneka noted also that the exercise, which, he said, would be extended to all other communities that make up the local government, was in line with the blueprint of the Governor Willie Obiano-led administration which had introduced Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme for the betterment of the people at a subsidized cost.
The pharmacist told the people that the outreach had provisions for referral as it was in partnership with the famous Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka.
The exercise at Umuoba Anam was indeed a great medical programme as Mr Emeneka brought medical experts from reputable hospitals across Nigeria and beyond, including Canada.
In all, the medical team comprised fifteen medical doctors, ten lab scientists, six pharmacists, nurses, among other healthcare professionals.
