A day after the killing of two policemen and a woman, including the abduction of a tricycle leader in Awka, by suspected cultists in Awka, the Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of 24 suspects, reports Jude Atupulazi.
It will be recalled that there was a heavy shooting at UNIZIK Junction in Awka last Tuesday, which was said to be carried out by rival cult groups who also abducted the tricycle leader who was identified as Snoop.
Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, said in a telephone interview that about 24 persons suspected to be connected with the incident had been rounded up.
His words, ‘We are already profiling them to ascertain their level of involvement in the incident. The command swung into action immediately after the incident, and, so far, we have made arrests. We will keep you updated as we continue, and we promise you that the perpetrators of that crime will not go unpunished.’
